No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
