Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
