If a poker player states never to have stared faced down the shadow of an upcoming tilt – they are either lying or they have not been wagering very long. This does not mean of course that everyone has been on steam in the past, a number of players have wonderful willpower and carry their losses as a hit and leave it at that. Many of the poker pros are not charmed by tilting following an awful defeat as they are incredibly experienced and you must be to.
You have to understand that you won’t win every hand you are in, regardless if you are strongly favored. Hands which commonly cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the favorite or at least thought you were up until you were rivered and you lost a big chunk of your bankroll. Bad defeats are bound to develop. Accept that fact right now, I’ll say it again – if your brother enjoys cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandma enjoys cards – We all have poor defeats at some point. It is an inevitable outcome of competing in Holdem, or really any kind of poker.
After all we are assumingly (most of us) in the game for one purpose – to make a profit, it certainly makes sense that we would bet appropriately to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up $100 off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a huge hit in a NL game and your bankroll is down to one hundred and twenty dollars.
