Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
